  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications  and then scroll to and touchEmail Email . If you have not set up an account already, an email setup screen will display. If you have set up an email account already, skip to the Adding Other Internet Email Accounts section below.
  2. Select the email service you would like to set up. If your provider is not listed, selectOthers and follow the steps below.

  3. Enter your Email address and Password.

  4. Touch Next and follow the on-screen prompts, and your device will complete the setup process automatically if your email server settings are available. TouchManual setup to manually configure your connection settings. The information required will vary by email provider. If your provider's settings are not automatically loaded, you will be taken through the following steps.
  5. Select the type of email account you are setting up. You may choose from POP3 accountIMAP account, or Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync®. We'll walk through setting up a POP3 account. The steps for setting up an IMAP account may vary slightly. If you are trying to set up an ActiveSync account, please see the ActiveSync how-to guide.

  6. Enter your Incoming server settings. This should include your User name,PasswordPOP3 serverSecurity typePort number, and Delete email from server setting. Then touch Next.

  7. Your device will attempt to connect to the Incoming server with the settings you have entered. If the connection is successful, you will be taken to the Outgoing server settings screen. Enter your outgoing server settings. This should include your SMTP serverSecurity typePort number, Require sign-inUser name, and Password. Then touch Next.

  8. Select your Account options and touch Next.

  9. The first time you connect, you are asked to give this internet mail account a unique on-screen name and enter Your name. The unique account name is used to differentiate this account from other email accounts on your mobile device. TouchDone to complete the setup process.

Configuring Email Settings

With the Email app open, touch Menu menu.gif > Settings and touch your account name.

These settings are available for customization:

  • General Preferences:
    • Display after deleting message: Select the screen shown after deleting a message.
    • Message preview line: Select how many lines are shown when previewing a message.
    • Email header: Select either the Subject or Sender for email title.
    • Confirm deletions: Check this option to confirm a deletion of a message.
    • Quick responses: Edit frequently used text in emails. For example, "I'll call you later" or "Let's meet for lunch."
  • Account Settings:
    Note: Account settings may vary depending on the type of account you are viewing.
    • Account name: Displays the account display name.
    • Your name: Displays the name shown in the from field of your outgoing emails.
    • Add Signature: When marked, your device will automatically add the signature to all outgoing messages for this account.
    • Signature: Edit the signature that will be sent.
    • Default account: Assign this account as the default account used for outgoing emails.
    • Always Cc/Bcc myself: Includes your email address in either the Cc or Bcc recipient field.
    • Forward with files: Allows you to maintain any attachments while forwarding a message.
    • Show images: Set the option to show all images when you are viewing emails.
    • Email check frequency: Adjust the time interval your mobile device should connect and check your email server for new emails.
    • Period to sync email: Specify how frequently to sync emails.
    • Size to retrieve emails: Select the size you want to set your device to limit a message to when it is downloaded. The full message can be downloaded once you open the message.
    • Message format: Select from HTML or Plain text email message format.
    • Email notifications: Checking this box will cause an email notification icon to appear within the Notification Panel and the status bar when a new message for this account is received.
    • Select ringtone: Assigns a custom ringtone to be played when this account receives new messages.
    • Vibrate: Select the vibrate settings for incoming email messages.
    • Incoming settings: Adjusts the incoming email server details.
    • Outgoing settings: Adjusts the outgoing email server details.

Removing an Email Account

  1. Touch Menu menu.gif > Settings > Delete account Email App Add Account Icon .

  2. Touch the email account you wish to delete to add a check mark, and touch Delete.

  3. Confirm you would like to delete this account by touching Delete.
